Citizenship by descent
A person who is legitimate, born outside The Bahamas after 9 July 1973 whose father is Bahamian by birth, regardless of the mother’s nationality, is entitled to citizenship by descent.
A person who is legitimate, born outside The Bahamas after 9 July 1973 whose mother is a citizen of The Bahamas and who is between the ages of 18 and 21 years can make an application to be registered as a citizen (subject to considerations of national security and public policy).
Applicants are required to renounce any other citizenship, take an oath of allegiance and make a declaration of intent as to residence.

Citizens of the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Canada, most other Commonwealth countries, the European Union, and many other countries do not require visas for The Bahamas and are allowed to remain in The Bahamas for a period up to eight months.
Visitors are advised that they must have the following documents upon entering The Bahamas:
Passports, valid for at least six months from date of departure from The Bahamas.
A return or onward ticket;
Documentation (visa, re-entry permits etc.) to enter a country other than The Bahamas for which one is ticketed;
Sufficient funds to finance the visit to The Bahamas;
Evidence of accommodation for the duration of the trip.
